"Pale Fox"
One of my New Year's Resolutions was to start stepping out of my comfort zone with my artwork, so I thought this weeks Illustration Friday topic was a good place to start. It was hard! I am so used to planning my paintings carefully, and being very much in control. This was very different, and cutting and sticking is so not my thing! It felt like I had gone back to school again, and I find it so hard to deal with the end result not looking how I had imagined it in my minds eye. This looks so very clumsy. I think the vision in my minds eye might have been better achieved with photoshop! Still, it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours this evening :)

Oh, I love this! Even if it was hard!
I adore it!!! My son's name is Fox!! I love the mixed media - wonderful job.
beautiful piece - i love foxes too.
I think this is fascinating! Nice work.
Hey, I have the same resolution, hence the oil paintings of late. The lose weight thing just wasn't working for me this year:)
I think it turned out well. I love the reddish colors with the blue leaves.
I know what you mean about things not turning out how you pictured them.
i'm in awe, really...can't find the proper adjective
This is really sweet. I like it! It's fun to try something different now and then.
Danielle, it's FANTASTIC! You are so creative! I love this piece!!!
I'm very impressed indeed. A lovely piece, beautiful contrasts and lines. Bravo, Danielle!
I have the same resolution, Danielle! Hence, my pointilism, limited pallette, and collage experiments. I think your pale fox turned out wonderful! And the fact that you don't find out about IF until the day of...that's what I always struggle with. I think you did a great job, especially in less than 24 hrs.!
I like him very much! I do adore foxes and scenes with woods :)
I promise myself the same thing, its funny how used to our medium of choice we become.
The colors and textures are super! It can be fun to break free from what you are used to...even if it's a challege at first. Great job...foxes are neat animals. =0)
It turned out to be a successful step outside your comfort zone! These colours evoke a lovely feeling. :)x
I think the colors, compostion and figure of the fox are very successful. I can see your discomfort with the leaves because they are a bit aggressive compared the subtelty of the rest of the rendering, because perfect and with finished edges. It takes awhile with new media combinations.
I don't think that looks clumsy at all, as a matter of fact I think it is beautiful.
xoxoxo
i love it love it love it !!!
it makes me feel so happy.
are you magic? or maybe the wolf is?
I think it's wonderful! Yes, harder to achieve shading with paper (or fabric), so tends to look more folksy, but I love it! Thanks for visiting :-) Diane
Not Clumsy at all ! Excellent work.
Danielle, I hope you don't mind, but I have given you a 'blog pimp' in my latest blog post. Hope you are ok with me posting a pic of you art along with it...
I've discovered so many lovely blogs lately that I just wanted to give a regular 'shout out' to my faves! :)

Now, how lovely is this new illustration? Too lovely to capture with words, I love the feeling of looking through an old window's glass, not clumsy at all in my humble. I love the sense of softness that comes from it. Well done Danielle!
