'Long Lugs' is finished.

Here is the first one finished! My head is just bursting with ideas for more, and I'm already beginning on the next.

Ginger Miu thinks this sewing lark is a great idea. It's so much more comfortable to sit on a piece of embroidery than on a wet painting.

Gorgeous! Glad to see Ginger Mui is being so helpful. It's the same here, I can't even look at a piece of cloth without finding whiskers in my face. Although the tea cosy is really her favourite! Say Hi to Di for me.

Thankyou everyone!

bEAUTIFUL. I see your cat likes to give things it's royal stamp of approval!!

April - Oh, Yes, he certainly does that. Thankfully, pointing a camera at him is a guaranteed way to make him vacate the room. He is deeply suspicious of things being pointed at him!

Very nice- it is addicting- stitching, something you can curl up with in the evening with everyone by the fire, much nicer than a cold studio.

Beautiful stitchwork. I love the design. But what does long lugs mean?
Cindee

Danielle Barlow said...

Cindee - Long Lugs is an old English dialect word for the Hare. I'm not sure what the origin is - whether it is a corruption of Long Legs, or whether Lugs refers to ears ( as in your 'lugholes', a slang word for ears)

Char- Lovely to meet you too! Thankyou for stopping by.
Freyalyn - would it be cruel to carefully position some pins? I have been toying with the idea ...

This is gorgeous :) It's lovely to sometimes take a break from painting, and create in another medium. Good for the soul of our muses, I think :)

Our snow is slowly giving way to rain now. At least it was bright when it was snowy!

Really love this piece (quite partial to the hare) and its name. Wonderful earthy project. I look forward to seeing more of your fabric work.
Your ponies are gorgeous...lovely to see them in their natural state in the snow. They look very happy!

Jacky.

p.s. your paintings/drawings are beautiful.

Hello, I just dropped by from Jude's Spirit Cloth. Nice to meet you Danielle. Fabulous long lugs. I love this. Reminds me of Masquerade by Kit Williams, which always fascinated me as a child. This is excellent work, love the colors, love the choice of cloths, love the stitches, love the imagery. I also enjoy your paintings. Am going to add you to the list of talent over at my blog. Look forward to following you around on the ether. :)

A real hare that we can take seriously, not a rabbit. Who ever saw a hare crossing a field in zigzag knows that the legs of a real hare ARE this long. Wonderful work!

Thankyou everyone! I have to say that it was Jude (from Spirit Cloth) who inspired me to pick up my needles and start stitching again!
I really appreciate everyone's kind comments and encouragement with this. x Danielle
