The Longest Night
Managed to grab a couple of hours this evening to finish this little painting, which I have been working on for the last couple of days. It's really small, about 6 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches but I'm really pleased with it. I might use the image for my christmas cards. I've gone back in and brought out the colour a little with coloured pencils, and there are gold highlights. What I'd really like to do now is have a go at doing this as a linocut - something I haven't tried since I was at college, but I just love linocuts, and think a simplified version of this would work really well. Anyway, I might have to add that to my ever growing 'to do' list! In the meantime I have listed the painting on ebay, here.
My thanks to all who have purchased from me during my Etsy sale - I really appreciate it, and hope you love your prints when they arrive!

This is a lovely design. I love the way you've done the sky!

Really beautiful painting, this would make a beautiful and very different christmas card..
Danielle, this is gorgeous, it would be just as appropriate at Valentine's Day where instead of the same old - same old heart, you can bring a lover a star. Lovely work, as always.
PS: I adore quince paste over toast or mixed in steamed chocolate pudding instead of persimmons. Yumm!
Looks beautiful! I love how you did the sky. Linocuts are on my long "to do" list as well.
So lovely. You should certainly make this your Christmas card. Everyone would love to receive this in their holiday mail.
