Snow days

The snow finally reached us, here in the southwest of England. Friday was a snow day for my eldest daughter - to her great delight the school bus couldn't get through. Luckily the owl daughter and the wolf boy are at school in the village, which remained open for all children within walking distance (or able to be delivered by tractor)
The fey-daughter and I trudged up the hill to feed the ponies.
All have seen snow before, but childlike Captain instigated snow games and general playfullness.

Even old boy Matthew decided to join in. So did the fey daughter and the wolf, rolling in knee deep snow and playing with snow balls.
Piper is the only one without a rug, but her thick Highland coat deflects rain, snow, electric fence charge, and pretty much anything else!

Today is bitingly cold, and the lanes are icy and slightly scary, so I have stayed indoors and done the long overdue blog revamp. What do you think? I am particularly pleased with the Gallery tabs at the top of the page :)

I love the photos of your horses rolling and playing in the snow and that sounds charming to think of your children possibly arriving at school in the village via tractor.

The tabs are great. You've made me think I need to change mine! I hate that coloured pony's scraggy tail. Hoping it doesn't snow again tonight....

Luckily my children are close enough to walk, but there are plenty of farm children ( I think most of them opted to stay home and play in the snow though!)
Em - I saw your origami boy fly past me in the landy as I trudged up Meldon. I'm hoping for no snow, but think it may be back tomorrow eve.

I did smile at Piper, I can remember one horse owner being scandalised that my Highland was not wearing a rug!
I love to see them rolling and enjoying the snow.

I think they must get itchy under their rugs as my rugged ones seem to love rolling in the snow much more than the two very hairy ( unrugged) New Foresters.

Snow days are great fun when you have children at home.

I do like the new formatting Danielle. You are so clever. And my favourite Captain is pictured - thank you! Is there a way of making the pictures come up larger when you click on them please?

Our Friesians act like your horses playing in the snow! Love your snow photos and hope it stays away from us!

Love the new headings. I need to do something with my blog but I tend to be less than clever with such things.
