How absolutely WONDERFUL! I just LOVE the colour of the bracken and the hedgerow. I am still practicing (John Skeaping last night). Perhaps I should try and beatt my mental block about actually painting what I draw . . .

I remember being really scared of using colour, and 'spoiling' my drawings. The only answer is to get on and do it! Without judgement, or expectations, just allow yourself to play. It's quite a liberating feeling, and I have to remind myself to do it every so often. :)

Yes I agree with Bovey Belle the colours are fantastic, well the whole painting is :) Gave me a lovely warm feeling....
Hope all the ponies are well?
Have a good week Danielle

Beautiful, autumnal colors. Here, we are finally blanketed in white, and with that, FRIGID temperatures.... we are huddled by the wood stove this morning until the house warms up!

Wonderful colours and composition... I love the textures you can get with watercolour on a good toothy paper!

Lovely painting. I love seeing the finished product along with the original mainly because it reminds me that it is OK to interpret the picture a little. I get so horribly bogged down in being absolutely accurate thinking that the more accurate I am then my painting will be at least as good as the original.

Pussycats - all ponies are good thanks, although not being worked nearly as much as they should!
Valerianna - the temperature has only just dropped here in the last couple of days, and we have our first frosts. I'm still enjoying the 'newness' of it, before i get fed up with the cold and want spring to hurry along :)
Swan Artworks - toothy paper and granulating paint - what more could you ask for! :)
ChrisJ - I know exactly what you mean:) I firmly believe that there is no point in making an accurate reproduction of a photo, particularly if you take good photos! However, mine are not great, and it really annoyed me that my camera doesn't capture the 'glow' of light on the land, and though the reds sing when I look at them, they look dull in my photos. This is what I love about paint - i can simplify the details, and concentrate on the colours!

I sometimes stick my sunglasses over the lens - it brings out the reds in a landscape for some reason. But all the better to do it with lovely texturey watercolours!

Wow! Love the colors!

Thats a neat tip David - I'll try it next time. Not getting reds with my camera is a real bugbear of mine.
Thankyou Gail - sadly todays landscape has gone disastrously wrong, and the paint is NOT doing what I want it do!

A beautiful interpretation. I love the rusty reds of the bracken and the damp brown of winter heather.

Thanks for the encouragement Danielle - I am going to bite the bullet - perhaps today! as I am reduced to borrowing my son's laptop whilst I wait for a replacement monitor. So I have less distraction . . .
