Race The Wind

Race The Wind is finished, bar the hanging rod. Not a machine stitch in the piece! I need some time to source / make hanging rods for both this piece and Long Lugs, as I have a pretty specific idea of how I want them to be hung.

In the photos, the greenish edge fringe contrasts very strongly with the piece, but in reality it works a lot better. What is tricky to see in the pictures is that a lot of the stitching over the blue and turquoise background is in gold thread, and this gives it a very greenish gold feel.

The next piece is already taking shape in my head. It will be simpler, and use some of my new found scraps. I'll show you soon!

You must be in 'racing ' mood because you're sewing like the racing wind!

Thankyou! I AM racing on, sitting up late into the night stitching. It is so much fun :)

This is even lovelier than it promised to be when you started. I am inspired now, I must sew something with hares!
Can't wait to see what you will make next.

Hi Danielle! I have been reading your blog for a bit now and, while I find most all of your posts interesting and lovely, I just felt compelled to comment now.
This piece, "Race the Wind," is just stunning and beautiful. I hope you can create more such wonderful works of art, along with your moving paintings, in the near future.
Thank you for your wonderful blog,
Brandi

It's splendid! What a lot of work you've put into that. I like all of the details, but i really like the organza(?) passing over the trees like mist. That's lovely. Well done! You should be really proud of this. Can't wait to see the next one taking shape.

Beautiful...I especially love the sky with the sheer fabric creating cloud drifts over the moon...hmmm, must try that! :)

Thankyou everyone!
Brandi, Sweetpea and Kristin - good to meet you, and thankyou for your kind words :) I'm off to visit you in a moment!
Catherine and Christina - yes it is organza. Originally I had covered the whole piece with a layer of organza, but I kept cutting bits away until eventually there were only wisps left.

Oh Linda! How exciting! Thankyou so much for pointing it out as I had no idea. I had wondered why I suddenly had so many hits on the "Heron Girl"!

It's beautiful! It must take hours upon hours to do all of that by hand. Obviously it's worth it when it turns out as nicely as this one did!
