Marlene and Morticia

How on earth did I end up with two ponies called that? Actually, I wouldn't have it any other way - I think they are brilliant in their outlandishness. You can't beat standing at the top of the field and calling these two! and Morticia is a perfect name for middle daughter's pony - her heroine is Wednesday Addams. Add to that my eldest daughter's pony, Matthew, and there we have a perfect collection.

Finally our snow has gone, and the sun even made a brief appearance today. We managed to get the ponies out for the first time this year. Just a walk around the block today - Tishy has newly had her shoes removed, and Marlene, little teddy bear that she is currently, hasn't been ridden since about September time. Both were pleased to be out and about , and Magpie was overjoyed to be out running with the ponies again.

I have started work on the second textile piece, Race -The -Wind. Not very happy with it at the moment, it feels very harsh and 'clunky'. What I really want to do is start building up gossamer thin layers over the basic image, but I have nothing suitable in my boxes of fabric. I'm going to have to go and rummage in other peoples stashes before I can go any further. ( By other people, I actually mean my sister, who has an enviable fabric stash - a whole barn full. I just have to grovel a bit to persuade her to let me help myself)

I know what you mean about standing in the field calling out an unusual name. When our second rescue dog first came to us, she would dissapear for ages and we would stand there shouting "Roobarb, Roobarb" like a pair of twits.
I think Morticia is such a cool name, I am a wannabe Morticia Adams!

Seeing your two girl's on their ponies brought lots of wonderful memories flooding back from my childhood....(and teenage years) I just love ponies you can have so much fun with them... I like the fact that them seem to be able to get up to mischief and get away with it....Happy Days......Good luck with the needlework, looking forward to seeing the end result....
Blessings

Julie - Thankyou. Life IS good :)

Terra - How kind you are to say that. I'm glad I haven't bored you yet (there's always a danger of me wittering on about horses too much!)

Kath - The problem with Marlene is that it's just impossible not to fall into the 'Only Fools and Horses' and shout Marlene in Boysie's accent. But yes, standing in a field shouting 'Roobarb' is hilarious too!

Carol Anne - I appreciate your thoughts. Now get back to finishing your novel - I can't wait to read it :)

Mary - thankyou too. The response to my textile work has been a little overwhelming! ( in a good way)

Julia - I'm still experimenting with that texture - keep changing my mind :)

Julie - we do have fun with the ponies. We are so lucky to live in a place where my kids can have the freedom to mess around on ponies just as I did. The best memories from my childhood involve ponies ( and no adult supervision!)

Ha, ha, good luck with the stash raiding. Could you maybe distract your sister and grab have a quick rummage then?

Love the two ponies, they could be sisters :)

Truly fabulous names I think! lol They sound as though they have such characters too :)

We actually saw some sun yesterday & it was lovely to stand in 'sunlight'. Even Mark commented that it was nice to feel the warmth on his face :)
Chuffing cold again today tho!!

Stop with the fabric art woman...you are making me want to have a go! lol

Carolee - He he, painting in oils is one thing I can't do and REALLy wish I could!

Yarrow - She was generous with her fabrics! Now I've just got to get back to work.

Julia - I think everyone should get their sewing needles out right now!

Mermaid and Cabin - Thankyou, they are lovely aren't they! Sadly Tishy has been quite unwell this week, so we are all in a quandary here :(
