Illustration Friday "Packed"

I didn't think I was going to have time to do some work for submission this week, but then all of a sudden last night I had to do the swimming run for the kids and their friends. An hour spent sitting on the poolside drinking coffee and talking about our kids achievements, or an hour sat in the car overlooking the valley with my sketchbook? No contest! So here it is, a pencil and watercolour sketch for this week, showing the rookery, a few small trees jam-packed with large birds!

Feeling Halloweeny

Quick post today to show you my latest ACEOs. I have listed them on ebay tonight. A return to my favourite characters, the crows!

Goodbye Cleo

It was a sad day for our family, as Cleo, our smallest pony, went off to a new loan home today. She has done sterling service for us, teaching all 3 of the children to ride, and has now been outgrown, so it was time to let her have some smaller children to teach again. That is always the trouble with small ponies - inevitably they get grown out of, and you have to let them go. Sad as it is, it is really the best thing to do - she hates doing nothing, she is such a feisty little pony ( she has the attitude of a Jack Russell) and loves to be out with the big ponies, always up the front! We are going to miss her. ( Actually, it is always possible she will come back - there is no guarantee she will behave herself! Lovely as she is, she can be rather quirky)

A temporary antidote

My blog and I seem to be suffering from a surfeit of bunnies at the moment ( I have a couple of sugary cute commissions on the go at the moment), so I felt the need to counter it with some darker work. This is a quick sketch, entitled Mental Claustrophobia, or perhaps The Bunny Cage would be better. Don't misunderstand me - I've got nothing against rabbits, it's just I think we need a break from each other! I feel the need to do some seriously grown - up work for a while. I'm sure the phase will pass pretty quickly (as soon as the next bill arrives, most likely!)

Illustration Friday - Clique

" Five for Silver, Six for Gold"
Here is a quick painting for Illustration Friday, the theme of which is 'clique' this week.
This has scanned a bit darker than the original, and all my tweaking couldn't get it exactly right. I dream of having some decent software one day, but until then I'll have to carry on doing all my adjustments with my scanner program :(
